Livestock, a collaboration between painter Arlene Amaler-Raviv and photographer Dale Yudelman was created in 2003 for the Eighth Havana Biennial in Cuba. Following the success of the installation, the work was exhibited in Oslo, Norway and on return was acquired by Standard Bank South Africa for their permanent art collection.
Yudelman and Amaler-Raviv have now released these works as large individual limited edition prints of 150cm x 60cm. Each piece is editioned at 40 and were printed on Hahnemuhle etching paper using archival pigment inks. Master printer Tony Meintjies did the printing.
The two artists have collaborated on various projects over the past six years combining the disciplines of photography and painting. Using original banknotes of Southern African countries as a departure towards a more specific investigation into the economic and social realities of these countries, Amaler-Raviv and Yudelman have created a series of works that accentuate the conflicts and marriages between what was, what is and what may be coming to Africa.
