Khaya Sineyile’s first solo exhibition with WORLDART opens on Thursday 4 August at the WORLDART gallery in Cape Town.

Sineyile is a self-taught portrait artist who grew up in Nyanga, Cape Town.

He works mainly with oil paint on canvas and uses portraits to explore and explain the world presented to him through his subjects and lived experiences.

“I love painting portraits. Painting people gives me the freedom to add elements that allow me to explore ideas and tell stories about our lives as I interpret and understand it. Each portrait I paint is like having an interview with the subject,” says Sineyile.

This series is titled We are the generation with beautiful pictures. Almost everybody has a phone with a camera and constantly uses it to present themselves in the context of their aspirations and perceptions of happiness. But the eyes are the window to the soul and various tricks are used to hide true emotions and realities. 

We are the generation with beautiful pictures will be on show at the WORLDART gallery from 4 to 25 August 2022.
